Entertainment news is flying about The Hunger Games and everyone is jumping to compare it to Twilight. For certain there are basic similarities: both are a series of novels, both are in the “young adult” genre, both combine love stories with action, and both are being made into movies.
However, that is pretty much where the similarities stop. The Hunger Games is set in a futuristic world but is not necessarily supernatural in any way. The lead female characters are very different in that Bella is more motivated by love and Katniss is motivated by her sense of duty. Twilight focuses on romance throughout all of its books while The Hunger Games has some romance but also focuses more on the games and the political issues.
